Title: MaLa Gameslist wont populate

Long story short.
Had major PC issues awhile back.
Got a new PC , installed Photoshop, and now installed Mala so I could design layouts.
I installed MAME but none of the additional files (the links on the Mala site were dead).
I have no ROMs on the PC, but prior I had a full list of games display.
Now no games, so I can not test my layouts correctly as no list displays.

Is it because I'm missing the other files ?

Any help would be appreciated ?

Hey Mike. When you point mala to the mame.exe file it should ask if you want to generate a mame.xml file. That is the source for the list I think.

I'll give it another go.
I need this fixed....... ..worst case I'll toss a few ROMS in the ROM folder.
Just enuff that I can test my font sizes.

Tried that and it didn't work.
So I tried a different version of MAME ...added the support files (catver, nplayers, controls) and still NADDA!
I can't finish my layouts cause of this.

WTF.............................................. :banghead:

I also made sure to add 3 ROM files to my ROM folder.
I thought ok.....these 3 should show ? NO DICE!

Are you using a newer version of MAME?  (0.162+)

I'll also look for my old MAME EXE as this is driving me CRAZY.

Hi Mike - if all you need is a list to appear, you can drop a .mlg (mala list file) into the mala folder. I've attached one (remove the .txt extension).

Tried to rename the file ,but it would not work.

I still cant resolve this issue.

I'm going to review that link now and try to get this working.

If all else fails I'll just copy the old MAME exe from one of my machines.
