Title: Used Cabinets??

What kind of used arcade cabinet would best if I'm planning to upgrade the control panel??

What type of control panel do you plan to 'upgrade' to?

Why not have a go at building a cabinet from scratch?  You can make it exactly as you wish that way ;)

Simply a larger CP box. I want an arcade cabinet that the CP box isn't bulit into the sides of the cabinet so I can easily place a larger box in it's place

A few come to mind:

Mortal Kombat / NBA Jam etc (Midway cabs)
Killer Instinct
Some 4-player cabs like The Simpsons, and TMNT...

I've come to the realization that I'm willing to accept pretty mych any type of cab that I can get my mitts on. I had no idea how hard it would be to track one down until I started the search.

Simpsons and Ninja Turtles are excellent cabinets to use for your application. Also look for an Atari "Pit Fighter".

I noticed that Blasteroids has what appears to be a separate CP...

Please don't mame one tho :)

The problem you are going to run into is that every game with a "separate" control panel already has a huge massive one big enough for all your frankenpanel needs, while everyone that doesn't has a small panel that should just barely hold a 2 player streetfighter layout.

Just get your hands on a cabinet and modify it to suit your needs....
