Title: Got a free Rowe r-85 Jukebox, where do I start?
Post by: Wayno100 on December 06, 2015, 09:43:57 am
I just got a free Rowe r-80 jukebox. I have ordered a service manual and a new lock for the cash box. So when I try to use  it . Push button selectors stick, when you do make a selection , a wheel just spins inside constantly and doesnt make a selection. While I am waiting for my manual where should I start. Can I use wd 40 on those sticky selector buttons. Total noob here but I will learn. Thanks.

Nice score!! Nothing is free anymore as you about to learn with that project.... No, WD40 or something comparable is most likely whats causing that sticky problem in the first place, Jenn would take the selector apart and clean it, (Take a lot of pics to aid reassembly) using a good quality metal polish, (don't scrub too much or you will rub the plating off) Just a good clean, As for the carrousel I would look at the service selection switch and make sure its not in scan, Then would take a good look at the selection unit. Good luck.

Hi Wayn,

The jukebox you show in your attached picture is a 1976 Rowe Ami R-80 Fleetwood (not a R-85 which was produced in 1981).

Your jukebox used the Rowe Ami 1100 mechanism and uses the 64 watt amplfier.

If you get the correct manual and fully read it a number of times before you start doing any work on will save you tears and a lot of money. The adjust section is the best place to start to make sure the mechanism is adjusted correctly.

Regards
Alan
