You're late.  .78u2 was released today.

They're interim releases.  Bugs are fixed, sometimes drivers are added.

Todays release completely changed the way MAME handles CPU core and memory registers.  It's the first in a whole slew of changes for MAME.  The changes are posted @ Haze's site.
