It looks like we are pretty much guaranteed 3 new episodes but more would be nice.
It's a shame none of the original cast is coming back though.
Hmm..... I wonder if they'd let me be a henchman?
-
Man, why not MST4K?
Streamed in 4K?
-
This is the gayest thing I've ever seen in my life.
-
But, it's already been brought back, by the rest of the cast:

Poor Joel got left out.

I don't really like Joel that much.....
I always preferred Mike Nelson...
The best one ever, IMHO though was the switch over episode, MITCHELL.... He's a cop...

I don't see Mad scientists or robot friends. There's no movie sign. Frank doesn't push the button. Translation: RiffTrax sucks.

RiffTrax is pretty awesome to see done live in the theatres.

I love how we can get this, but for Dragon's Lair folks just can't even be bothered to so much as lift a finger.
-
So you honestly think there are enough Dragon's Lair fans out there to fund, not a film, but a film clip to pitch to the studios for a "mere" 550k? Do you honestly think that if the money was raised any studio in the world would risk making a film based off of a 32 year old video game for a estimated 75 MILLION dollars? The Dragon's Lair kickstarter is a exercise in insanity. The only fans of the property are fans of the game. They don't want a film, they want.... oh... I dunno.... ANOTHER GAME. Likewise the fans of Bluth animated films don't want a film based off of a video game, they want an original Bluth film unencumbered by a video game tie-in.
On the other hand mysties demanded that MST3K be put back on the air almost immediately after it was cancelled and they haven't shut up about it this entire time. Because it's so cheap to make (for a tv show anyway) and they've broken the goals into individual episodes, it's a more reasonable goal. The only fan base more rabid than mysties are Evil Dead fans, and they've already got their tv series. ;)
-
I'm a huge Dragon's Lair fan, but there's no way I'm donating cash in to make a pitch trailer in the HOPES someone might pick it up. If it were a KS for a completed project, then yeah.

Maybe Jericho fans have quieted down in the past few years (since the proliferation of post apocalyptic tv shows), but they were actually so loud the studio did another season..
MST3k was fun sometimes, but I would sooner see Jericho or Firefly brought back before MST3k..
You are right though, MST3k costs what, maybe a couple bills and a pizza for the cast to make? Hell, you could shoot it on a smartphone these days and have an episode edited and ready for air in a day.
-
Jericho was so awful a show after they brought it back for another season, the ratings were so bad that they had to take it off again halfway though the renewed season and put it up online only. I really glad it's gone.
It'd be nice to have more Firefly...except.... they killed a third of the cast off and the lead of the show now stars in one of those procedural crime dramas. So there really isn't anything to salvage on that one, especially considering Wheadon's track record for tv shows post-firefly.
MST3K doesn't cost anything to film, but they have to get the movie rights, so there is *some* cost involved.

Huge MSTie here....but new host, new bot voices?
No thanks, I support Rifftrax because it's the personalities of Mike, Kevin, and Bill that I enjoy, not silhouettes. If Joel or Trace wanted to team up with those guys, I'd be all for it, but not some completely new version of MST3k.
Keep circulating the tapes!

My collection has dwindled to The Crawling Hand on vhs.
-
Probably the last thing I got excited about along these lines was the Dead Like Me movie... and.. yeah.
You can't go home again.

Me too. I enjoy going to the theater and watching these in a communal experience.

I know they'll never secure the rights, but I've always wanted them to do more modern movies.
My buddies and I watched the show so much, that the urge to comment on movies we were watching as a group was ever present.
I might never have laughed so hard as when we were watching "Contact," and at that point where Jodi Foster's character as a kid was discussing the range of her short range radio and says, "Can it call mommie?," My buddy, in his best Tom Servo says, "No sweetie that's long distance" and the whole room rioted with laughter.
good times....
-
I enjoy them BUT.... not so much them yelling at the movies. Don't get me wrong I always got a chuckle or two out of it, but I enjoyed the skits a lot more... they were far more creative and the over-arching plot of the show, especially towards the end when they had brain guy and the ape was so stupid it was great.

"It's Weenie Man!!!" (Into the Weenie Mobile...)

Mcloud!

Posting this on a forum dedicated to recreating classic arcade game controls. :laugh2:
But, yeah, I fear you are right about MST3K.

That was sooooo bad, especially when the series was sooooo good. Replacing Daisy Adair with another actress and not getting Mandy Patinkin back REALLY screwed it.
