can anyone point me in the right direction to get the buttons set properly on my arcade, i have a xin mo 2 player button but the controls are not correct, my cp is mounted into my display and it would be a big pain to rewire each button, is there a program or something i can use that for example say press up, then i press up on player one, and so on for the rest of the buttons? Ive tried joy to key but all the button and joy sticks are wrong , player one left does player 2 right etc. Any tip appreciated, this is my last step till im playing my new arcade!

Depends on what is wrong ( Sounds like you wired it incorrectly ) the default layout for the Xin Mo 2 player is as shown in this pic :

You could change the settings in MAME using the tab key and then going to Input General and resetting everything to match the current setup ( it works like you describe - select an input to set and then press the button/joystick to use for that input) -- problem with doing this is if you use some other program ( ie. console emulator , Pc game , etc. they may not allow changing some inputs and will cause problems later -so best to do it the correct way and change the placement of the wiring on the XinMo to match the schematic rather than use software to change it ! (even though it can be done that way in the long run it will cause more confusion than it fixes )

i decieded to take your advice and just do it right, crappy thing is joy stick p2 is still player 1, is p1 supposed to be p1 on the controller or is p0 player 1

P0 would be Player 1, and P1 is Player 2.
There are 10 types of people in the world ;D

Yep - computer programming numbering starts with 0 instead of 1 so first player would be 0.
