Title: Control Panel, your opinion
Post by: fablog on November 09, 2015, 09:48:29 pm
Hi guys,

What do you think about this control panel. I used the sega player 1 and player 2 layouts.

Thanks for any advice  :D

looks pretty good to me.  the only thing i'd be concerned about is the player 1 button 6 looks pretty close to the trackball. If i did the conversions properly, it looks like there may only be a few mm between the trackball housing and the button nut.  I'd just double check to make sure there is enough clearance there.

What are your plans for admin buttons?

I assume since there are only two shown that they are P1 + P2 Start, with the rest (Coin 1, Coin 2, Exit, Pause, etc.) handled with shifted functions (http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=FAQ#Number_of_admin_buttons) and/or a coin door.

Severdhed: My friend Paulo made me  this plan in 3D, including the U-trak, to check the clearance with the pushbutton and it's OK. But I didn't think to check the clearance with the button nut. Should be OK but better to be sure, I'll let you know. Thanks.

PL1: you assumed correctly :) I don't want too many buttons in the CP.

I built several control panel tops to test.
I found the player 2 layout to be more comfortable for both players.

Badmouth: Thanks for the advice. I will give it a try. It could be better for the aesthetic too.
