As if I need anything else to distract me from finishing my 4 player upright cab, I've been keeping my eyes open for a project cocktail cabinet because the wife has been asking for one for a long time. Found this cabinet from the guy who owns the games in Replay Arcade Museum here in FL for $100. How could I resist??? I think it's a Space Invaders 2 cocktail cab, no?
I figured I'd start a thread because I will need help from you good folks getting this thing how I want it. First off I want to plug it in and see what happens :0) However, some wise guy cut the power cord.
So, without further ado I shall make with the stereotypical dumb noob questions:
1. If I splice a new cord on, how do I know I got polarity right? Or does that matter?
3. I will be cutting a new top panel because this one is fubar and also too thick to accept my signature purple T-Molding. Best option? 3/4" MDF?
2. The monitor has this funky tri-colored plastic film sitting on top of it (under the tinted plexi). Does that mean it is a black and white? I was thinking I would just get a dirt cheap craigslist 4:3 LCD monitor. How do I know which monitors will have a good enough viewing angle and which won't?
That's probably enough for now. Just wanted to gather info so I can get her plugged in and plan what I'm going to do!

Hey big purp, I'm no expert but since no one else has answered you I will give it a shot.
1.) It doesn't matter which goes to which just as long as you have the ground to the ground.
2.) MDF would work just fine, Plywood would work just fine too.
3.) Not sure of the tri color film, I have never come across this but only have experience with color monitors. And most will work OK for viewing angle, for best results just test it before you buy it and make sure you can see the screen well at the angle you are going to have it at.
