Title: Ledblinkey,Mamehooker and Ledwiz
Post by: Lizard69 on October 31, 2015, 05:07:21 am
Hi

I am setting up mame to play some of the igt poker machine games and i am trying to light the button lights. I am using pinballx frontend mameuifx64, Mamehooker to light the buttons in game and ledblinky to light the front end button lights. Using a pacled64 everything worked great but the pacled64 i have has some issue with the outputs dropping out, apart from that every thing worked. So i ripped the ledwiz out of my cocktail cabinet and wired it up. Running a game straight from mame with mamehooker started everything works great and all the lights light properly but if i try to run the front end with ledblinky mamehooker drops out and i have to kill the mamehooker process in taskmanager and restart it again.
Even if i run through mame with mamehooker working and exit and then open the ledblinky simple led test mamehooker stops working straight away with the ledwiz but this does not happen with the pacled64.
I thought some thing may be conflicting from having the pacled64 installed so i did a clean install of windows 7 and started just with mameuifx64,mamehooker and ledblinky installed.
I generated the input map in ledblinky then fired up mamehooker then mame and ran a game to verifiy the lights were working then exited the game and closed mame and ran the simple led test and mamehooker stopped working again. Also after exiting with mamehooker still working then opening the ledblinky config tool and changing tabs will stop mamehooker also.
I dont have a clue as to what could be causing this with the ledwiz is anyone running with this combo successfully i dont really want to buy another pacled64 hopefully someone can shed some light on this for me.

Cheers

You shouldn't run ledblinky and mamehooker at the same time.  Both apps do the same thing and both apps call the same interface.  You can drop ledblinkly from the equation if you need mamehooker's extra functionality because you can call mamehooker and set outputs via the command line.  Your frontend can do that.  If that doesn't work for you then you need to send an exit command to mamehooker every time you are entering your frontend and re-launch it prior to starting a game.

Thanks for the info how do i send an exit command and re-launch. I tried starting pinballx with mamehooker off and with it set to start before game launch in pinballx setup but it doesnt load the game and it sits at the loading screen. Thanks for your time.
Last night i tried the inbuilt LED plugin in pinballx and it runs both fine just like when i was using the pacled64 so ledblinky does not like running with the ledwiz. So for the moment i will use the inbuilt plugin.
Thanks for putting the time into mamehooker it works a treat.

Cheers

Got it pretty much sorted now using scripts.
