Title: Not sure where to post this one: Wacky Gator has been emulated?
Post by: Howard_Casto on October 30, 2015, 04:15:05 pm
This one is a personal favorite of mine and apparently as of 167, it's emulated in mame.  Right now it's just a rough artwork sketch but it IS playable.  I fired up mamehooker and all the outputs are there.  So the question is... who will be the first person to make a wacky gator mame machine?

That is interesting.  There have been a couple of broken ones show up on CL here recently.  I wonder if you could use MAME and the MAMECALLGIRL(*) to fix one?  Wacky Gator was one of my favorites as well.  Never took it for a MAME candidate though.

(*) According to Sterling Archer you only call them "hookers" after they are dead.

Probably.  The way it's hooked up now, each gator hit is assigned to a keyboard key.... so hack a keyboard or use an encoder and hook the switches in their heads and a ledwiz or equivalent for the lamps and you are good to go.  All the lamps, digits, ect are hooked up to the output system.

The only thing that looks a little iffy to me are the motors.  It appears that each gator has a timer counting from 0 to 5 when going out and 5 to 0 when going back.  So no speed or direction really, but they literally just got done with this one, so I'm sure the motor outputs could be modified.
