Hi all, this is really driving me crazy. :banghead: Don't know when it started but here is my problem. After I pause a game by pressing P and I resume by hitting P again, the game slows down and drops to about 66%. The only way to get it back to normal is by pressing tab to bring up the MAME menu and then hitting tab again to exit the menu. Sometimes I have to pause the game a few times for it to happen and it seems to happen pretty consistently if I pause it for over 10 seconds rather than pausing and resuming quickly. Any idea what it could be?
I'm on .160 my hardware is Intel i5, 16GB Ram, EVGA GTX 970.

Is P mapped to anything else under the UI controls section of the TAB menu?
-
Also check your windows power saving settings (since you mention it seems to happen after paused for awhile) - could be the machine is shutting something down or putting it to sleep fairly quickly when paused and it is taking extra time to wake back up !

Only after like 10 seconds though not a very long time.

I occasionally have this same problem with MAMEUIFX 0.161.1. Haven't found any sort of fix.

I noticed on one of my machines that if I used the fast-forward key (insert) for a while it sometimes sticks and I have to restart the game. It appears to be a latency issue with the input devices. So you might want to look into that.

That brings up something.
Is OP actually using the official MAME build, or using some GUI derivative like MAMEUI or MAMEUIFX?
The fix might be switching to the real MAME.
