Title: SOLVED! JAMMA is hooked up to all spots- now how do I ground the sticks/buttons?
Post by: escapepodgames on October 24, 2015, 04:52:51 pm
OK one more push and you guys should have me over the top!

I have hooked up my new JAMMA to all of the sticks, wires, speakers, monitor wires, grounds, 12v and 5v, etc

Now I just need to know how to finish this.

I understand that each button and joystick direction has a common connector and that these need to all end up grounded.

Can I simply attach a new ground wire to the ground somewhere else and run it up to this area? Then just make sure that every button and stick direction is connected in a circuit that eventually gets to this ground wire?

Or is there a different/better way?

I have 6 buttons per player.  So can I go:

P2 START > P2B6 > P2B5 > P2B4 > P2B3 > P2B2 > P2B1 > P2 LEFT > P2 DOWN > P2 RIGHT > UP > P1, etc etc until P1 UP connects to the ground?

I hope this is right!

Once I hear back from you I will finish it up and dare to turn this thing on, lol

Then all I will need is advice on how to wire the LEDs in my P1B1, P1B2, P2B1 and P2B2

Don't worry - I will make this neat and tidy once it all works!  Here's a pic

Thanks!

Steve

That should work for ground.

Thanks yotsuya - all works great now!

Last thing is hooking up these 4 LED buttons.

I have tried everything I can think of but cannot get them lit.

Each one has the typical NO, NC and common blades but also has two extra ones on either side of the bulb assembly.

I tried both to 12v and one each to 12v and ground with no effect.

Get me through this and this sucker is ready for graphics!

Thanks again,

Steve

You just had the ground and 12v wires on the wrong terminals/the LED was turned the other way.

Swap the wires or pull the LED and turn it 180 degrees.

LED wiring:

You can also use the diode check function on your multimeter to (dimly) light the LED and verify which terminal is which.
