I heard from someone somewhere that the MAME community has gotten the Global VR Immersion PCB (for force feedback) to work with MAME games. Is this true? Anyone know where I can get more info on this? I have a Need For Speed GT that I run both GT and UNDERGROUND in... I'd love to play more games if possible...

I just got a board on ebay. Look for the link in the Immersion thread on here.

I was about to come back to post...
"DO A SEARCH NEWB"...
:)
I just found the $30.00 ebay link to a spare... and bought one.
$30?
Crazy.

I know.... I was hoping to steal one for around $100 when BM first told me about them.

Now... since I have a whole setup working (NFSGT cabinet)... it should be pretty easy to build a 2nd PC to drop in...
Anyone know what games are supported by this device? Anyone have any real-world experience with it using non-GlobalVR games?

It's a standard direct input force feedback device like any other pc wheel.
It will work and have force feedback on any game or emulator any other pc wheel would.
It's pretty dense info, but read the stickied driving cab info thread.
What you probably want to know right now is:
You can play all modern PC racing games with it except the few that only support an xbox360 controller.
Model 2 emulator will allow you to play Daytona USA, Sega Rally & a few others with working force feedback.
Supermodel will allow you to play Daytona 2, Scud Race (Sega GT), and a few others with working force feedback.
Cannonball will allow you to play an accurate remake of Outrun with full force feedback added.
MAME supports some simple outputs, but not force feedback.
It's a huge improvement on MAME games if you can have the centering feedback active while playing.
I've always used hacked Logitech wheels which have this as an option, but some other wheels don't have the option.
There is a thread somewhere in the driving cab subforum that has a file to keep centering feedback turned on for other wheels.
I know it will work because the high end wheel isamu had actually used the immersion arcade board as an interface.
It's one of the reasons Global VR was running out of them. Other companies were buying them to use in their high end sim wheels.
EDIT: Just in case you don't come across my statement buried in the immersion thread, the FET section of this board doesn't look as beefy as the old one and the 5A rating seems borderline to me. I'd put a 5A fuse on the 24v input just to play it safe.
Still though, it's made to work with the happ setup and I've never seen any of them with a weaker motor.

Wait a minute, if you have a working NFSGT then it already has an immersion board in it.
I have seen some boards I couldn't identify listed on ebay as NFSGT FFB boards, but it is one of the games Global VR lists the immersion board as a part for. The fact that you're already using it on both games makes it even more likely.
Download the drivers from the thread in the driving cab subforum and give it a try.
Keep the ebay one as a spare. Once these are gone I can't imagine finding them that cheap again.

Yeah, he bought it as a spare.

Exactly... i bought it as a spare. At $33.00 shipped you can't go wrong. I assume I'm going to have to build a pretty damn high-end rig for this though... especially if I can play PC games with it... I imagine there are some pretty nice PC racers out there now a days (i've not bought a PC game since 2006 when I got in to MAME/arcade machines).

Also check out Howard's patches for Outrun 2006.

I haven't had time to try it yet, but it adds force feedback and can be set to boot straight to Outrun2 SP.
