Is it possible to connect an Xbox One to an arcade monitor? I think they output a minimum 720p resolution, right? There is a 27" Sony 4:3 CRT that has an HDMI input but they're pretty hard to find. Are there any adapters/converters on the market to convert the signal?
Thanks!

Well sure but why would you? The games are designed for hi def... all the text and ect in the game is sized for HD. The games aren't going to look real great.
-
Hmm the text sure would be awful. Good point. Building a KI3 arcade cabinet, though it might be fun to use a CRT.
-
Nah, KI3 is designed for high def graphics. Down scaling to a CRT would make it look like crap.
-
Also you can just install windows 10 on a pc.... it'll stream the xbox one display onto any pc on the network. I intend to use this for KI.

Yeah, that's probably true.

Such a sweet feature. I think there was talk of a Windows port at some point too. That would be a sweet addition to the Hyperspin wheel for sure. I'm just gonna go with an LCD in the cabinet. Saves me a hundred pounds too ;)

What games do you intend to play on the CRT?

Mostly Killer Instinct 3. Pretty sure this game wouldn't even display a 4:3 aspect ratio so I think I'll abandon the CRT approach.

Before you consider anything, why not check the system options to see if the game will run 480p/4:3. My idea is with 4:3 support, you can just add an HDFury to convert to RGBHV and run it on a computer VGA monitor.

The new killer instinct isn't even that good. I would seriously re-consider your plans if you are going to build a cab for a single game. Understand that you will be able to play ZERO xbox one games aside from fighters, and the occasional XBL title because they all require analog controls.

I'm a HUGE fan of KI 1 - it's probably my favorite arcade game due to some very fond memories of me and my best bud playing it all the time as kids in the arcade. The fun thing about an Xbox One/KI 3 cab is that KI 1 & KI 2 are on the Xbone as well, giving you basically a "trilogy" cabinet. Pretty fun idea. I worked up loads of art for it already. Despite being a pretty limited build I think it'll be kinda fun to have and complete the Midway arcade trilogy. Check out the attachment
EDIT: Dammit. Trying to do the right thing here and attach files but the 2mb limit is just under the file size of all the jpgs that I've saved. It's not a build thread so I'll go ahead and pop a couple imgur pics below

That's a very good layout and it seems like you should go for it!
Now one thing MK3FAN did when he was constructing his own customs is he went and modeled a conversion for his lcd to fit in place of a crt, so if you're undecided you should get that one measured out as well.
Have you tested your system's video settings yet?

Yeah the dumb game doesn't play in 4:3 at all. No big deal I guess.
I'll be using a 16:10 Samsung T260. It has decent specs, will fit the cabinet nicely, and the game looks good on it.

Hmm... That reminds me of the problems I got from Soul Calibur staying 16:9, even when I had 4:3 enabled. I still ended up with black bars. :banghead:
Widescreen will be the best option then. Preferably I wouldn't bother with the ratio choice you're using for a panel as it can still lead to that "tall and thin" syndrome I've seen in MK, but in some cases it still has it's advantages. It should still look pretty good once you've got it in there.
