I have search forever and realize I need your guys help before going crazy...! :)
So I have installed the latest groovymame (0.166) and itīs working perfectly with the mame and the gamex frontend. I have a scanlines generator for my LCD (a 5:4 Dell) that physically add scanlines in 640x480 and 1024x768, itīs pretty sweet (especially since I cannot run hlsl due to hardware limiations)!
Before I used the mamefx and it started in the "correct" resolution as per above. However after groovymame I cannot seem to change resolution. Can someone help with the correct input in the mame.ini?
Thanks!

Most folks go with groovymame because of all the great things it does for our crt monitors. It sets resolutions as appropriate with the correct timings based on how you configured it all for your crt. I would think you would have better luck with a different version of mame on your LCD.

Hi bluetrain,
GM needs its own mame.ini, not one taken from other builds, you create it by running: groovymame.exe -cc
Then, you can't simply ask it to switch to a certain resolution, unless the monitor preset you use in mame.ini is capable of supporting that resolution. Do you see the point? Usually, with LCD monitors, you use the "monitor lcd" preset, which assumes the current desktop resolution is obviously supported, and sticks with it.
So, for instance, if you set your desktop to 1024x768, and use the "monitor lcd" preset in mame.ini, it will start all games at 1024x768.

thanks alot. sorry for this newbie question but how do I add so ganes always start in 1024x768 resolution in the ini?

Find the 'resolution' line in mame.ini and change it to 'resolution 1024x768'

Thanks guys! I had som problems to get it to work (resolution in the ini did not, but lcd prest did which is fine) but realize that it was probably due to something else. The crisp input response is a league or two above every other mame emulator I have tried! Great work with the gg! :)

Oups, I was a bit too fast. Itīs not working 100% properly after all.
If I change the display to 1024x768, the speed and everything is ok.
However when I turn it down to 640x480 (which is better because the scanlines looks much better at this resolution) it will work but audio and speed are now abnormally much faster.
How come, and can I do something to get the correct speed also with this resolution? (I didnīt change anything else except resolution)

Refresh rate is as critical than resolution. Make sure you're using 60 Hz. Set a higher refresh and games will accelarate proportionally.
