A friend of mine came to me with a request to build a Mr. Do! themed bartop for his wife. So, we decided to turn to Haruman for one of his great kits. This thread is to document the build of the bartop.
A Golden Age bartop kit was selected from Haruman. Here's the kit as delivered:

Can't go wrong with a kit.
I am badly on the fence about ordering a kit or making something from scratch. I still don't own all the tools required to make a cab from scratch, and I want to do a bartop for my next build. I think it would be more gratifying to do my own scratch built, but a kit would make things much easier...lol.

Yes, using a RPI 2 to run Mame, Atari 2600, Sega Genesis and NES. It has a PacPro joystick, so it'll have a 4-way game list. She's only concerned with Mr. Do, so everything else will just be bonus at this point.
I'm using RetroPi/Emulation Station on the Pi and using GPIO for inputs with a driver that does keyboard emulation

Parts list for the build:
Cabinet - Kit from Haruman
Tmolding - ordered with kit from Haruman
Printed Artwork - Lucian045
Joystick - Groovygame Gear PacPro 4-way leaf
Buttons - 3 Competition Concave, 2 printed Happ for player 1&2 and 1 coin button(GroovyGameGear NovaGemCDR)
Raspberry Pi 2
MicroSD card - 8gb class 10
Plexiglass - 1/8" 24"x24" for bezel
Plexiglass - 1/16" 12"x24" for Marquee
Power Supply - 2amp 5v wall adapter - powers the Pi and the NovaGemCDR led
Power Supply - 12v 2amp - powers marquee backlight and audio amp
Monitor - 17" TFT
Amplifier - 12v 3watt stereo
Speakers - 2 4" full range
Pi Case w/ heatsink
Audio cable - AV cable, this is because a regular stereo cable will ground out the video signal on the Pi's jack and cause static
Power inlet
Fuse for Power inlet
Hinges - I use surface mount Euro style
Screws - 3/8" #4 wood screws for hinges, speakers, marquee brackets and power inlet, 1/2" #8 with washer for monitor brackets and internal power strip
Cabinet lock - this is for the back door
3/4" x 1/2" aluminum angle for marquee bracket/retainer
Power strip - I used a $4 one from wallyworld, cut the cord and wire it direct to the power inlet.
22 gauge wire - controls
Spade connectors - controls and speakers

Love the artwork! I actually own a Mr. Do! PCB (I'm a big fan of the game) but I'm not sure it would fit into the bartop. :-(

It'd probably fit that bartop. Quite a bit of room in that one.

Hmmm, [rubs hands together like a supervillain]. If you could make a Universal cabinet replica I'd have to jump on that. Kind of like a modified Offender bartop but with curves.

Even if you could fit a Mr. Do! PCB in there why would you? You'd have to have enough clearance for the edge connector. You would have to create your own wiring harness or you would need to go JAMMA with an adapter which would add another 3-4" of clearance needed. Then you'd use a CGA to VGA converter and mount your LCD upside down because Mr. Do! is 180 degrees from the normal vertical orientation (Universal did that for some reason). When you were done you would find that it looks and plays awful. I know because I have a cabinet that had an LCD monitor in it with an original Mr. Do! PCB and it was horrible. That was the first thing to go when I restored it.

Did some work on the bezel and the marquee backlight
I used foam board to make a reflector for a SMD 5730 LED strip. This is the same technique I used for the backlight on my Pretendo build. It's powered from the same 12v wall wart as the audio amp. Kerf cut the foam board to be able to shape it the hole and used small pieces of double sided tape to hold it in at the opening edges.

So many thanks to Peabo for his work on this! It's my wife's birthday Saturday and I'm going to surprise her with this. Whe she was a teenager, she worked in a tobacco shop and there was a Mr. Do arcade machine there and she played it all the time. She plays it on my computer using Mame from time to time, but doesn't like my 360 controller, says it's just not the same.I think me and her will have hours and hours of fun playing on this bartop. Thanks to Lucian045 and Haruman as well!

Whe she was a teenager, she worked in a tobacco shop and there was a Mr. Do arcade machine there and she played it all the time. She plays it on my computer using Mame from time to time, but doesn't like my 360 controller, says it's just not the same.I think me and her will have hours and hours of fun playing on this bartop.
