Hi Guys,
I've read through as many threads as I could find, but I still have a few questions. I'm looking to install (22) GroovyGameGear Spectra Eclipse™ Illuminated Bezel Pushbuttons into my bartop.
Questions:
1. Can (1) LEDWiz support (22) Spectra Eclipse buttons using single color illumination?
- Will the USB provide enough power?
- Are there enough spaces to wire 22 buttons?
2. I understand that I'll need to use (1) wire per button, plus ground, to control each button individually. (Harness won't work). What kind of wire should I be using and are there any online arcade shops that sell them pre-crimped etc?
3. Wiring is essentially (1) wire from the numbered slot on the LEDWiz to the button -- making sure to connect the wire to the same side of each button -- and (1) ground daisy chain
- Do I need the daisy chain? Where do I connect it back to the LEDWiz?
- Can I combine the LEDWiz daisy chain with my existing Ultimarc MiniPac daisy chain -- essentially using the same ground chain for both?
4. Once I have them wired and am ready to TEST only, should they turn on immediately once I connect the LEDWiz USB cable? Or do I need to do any kind of setup in LEDWiz / LEDBlinky before they can be tested?

1: Yes
1a: It should, if there aren't a lot of other power hungry devices on the same physical port.
1b: Yes
2: One option is to use one of the pre-made harnesses, like our EZ-Lights. You could use one daisy-chain for the +voltage and cut the other into segments to add additional wiring. The other option is to purchase bulk wire and crimp your own .25 QD's onto it.
3: See #2. You don't daisy-chain the grounds. Those go individually to the LED-Wiz outputs.
4: You would need to run software for them to light up. You can use the simple software from the GGG site for testing purposes, or configure LED-Blinky.

Hi Randy,
Thanks, I am getting closer to understanding it. Is everything below correct?
1. I daisychain the EZ-Lights harness from the U5V terminal (because I'm using USB for power) to all my buttons
2. I connect the individual ground wires to the numbered terminals on the outside edges of the board
3. I connect the USB to my computer for power and ground
4. By following the steps above, if I do everything correctly, I can then control each individual light via GGG test software or LEDBlinky

Looks good to me!
If you get random disconnects on the USB peripherals, then you have too much power being consumed from one port. In that event, change the port you are using or use external power.

RandyT was nice enough to explain to me several years ago that I am not going to be able to light up 24 or so buttons :)
He recommended I get the power from the computer's PSU. Hopefully this photo of what I did helps you on your quest:
