Hello guys,
my setup is win7 64bit and i am using goovymame and using supper resolution.
When I run vmmaker I get the resolution bellow.. the 640 x 480 desktop resolution works great on my multisyc monitor since 640 x 480 is a 31khz. I acquire an Egreet 2 with the nanao 29" 15-24khz frequency.
I am trying to find out... how to add a lower desktop resolution other than 640 x 480 at 31khz for the Nano 29".. please recommend?
Also under WIN INI what is the monitor that I should choose ms929?? or Arcade_15_24?
// Nanao MS9-29
ms929
crt_range0 15450-16050, 50-65, 3.910, 4.700, 6.850, 0.190, 0.191, 1.018, 0, 0, 192, 288, 448, 576
crt_range1 23900-24900, 50-65, 2.910, 3.000, 4.440, 0.451, 0.164, 1.048, 0, 0, 384, 400, 0, 0
thanks for answering my questions

In vmmaker.ini, use:
MonitorType = "CUSTOM"
monitor_specs0 15250-15700, 49.5-65, 2.000, 4.700, 8.000, 0.064, 0.192, 1.024, 0, 0, 288, 448
monitor_specs1 24960-24960, 50-60, 2.910, 3.000, 4.440, 0.451, 0.164, 1.048, 0, 0, 384, 576
In mame.ini, just use "monitor ms929", you don't need to add the crt_range lines as they are implicit to the monitor option you use.
If you want to add a particular resolution for the desktop, place it in ReslList.txt.

Calamity -- thank you very much for the reply and for 15khz and now for GrooovyMAME.. I have been a fan for many moons..
to the point - I tried the settings.. however I get no signal on the Egret II when the computer enters windows.. I have maximum arcade and without seen anything I can start a game and hear the game running like 1945 but no video.. more on my setup.. using a J-PAC and a XFX ATI 4890. I attached the VMMAker.ini and ume.ini
file... for the ReslList.txt I am not sure what it should look like. I know that I just want to use a 15khz resolution for the desk top but not sure if that should be like make an entry such as
640 x 288 @ 60.000000 desktop

thank you very much in advance for reading and for your help.

expend more time and I just can not get the Nanao ms929 ( I looked at the monitor model MS9-29T and confirm in the cab) monitor to display once it boots to windows or in a running game in MAME.
I tried ..
a) removed and re-installed the drivers
b) different setting -- 15khz only on Arcade_15, Arcade_15_24 settings, the ms929 settings even a custom as the monitor in MAME.
the funny thing is that.. on my WG9800, NEC 29XP, 15khz only PVM with an Extron 203x which shows that the current desktop display frequency is 15khz it works and I get video and MAME and the games work fine even on the 15khz PVM but not on the ms929, no video, black screen.
I installed the atom 15khz during boot on the video card.. I can see the start up boot fine on the ms929 but as soon as the system enters windows a black screen.
I tried with an ArcadeVGA with the ArcadeVGA drivers and Grooovymame and that works fine. For now I will stay with the ArcadeVGA and revisit this issue when i have more time.

Quite probably it's just a matter of switching to the other output (primary).
-
@Calamity .. Thank you for the feedback. I also tried changing to the other output and I get an out of sync picture in multiple settings Ms929, arcade_15khz etc. The out put might be half the problem:). I have images at different point on the system.. Once I have more time I will re image the system at the OS installation level and install your video card drivers and go from there. Once again that you:)
-
Now that you have an out of sync picture.. are you sure you're supplying the jpac with power?
-
@sledge.. Thank you for the reply. I have the jpac v2 usb version which plus to the USB on the PC. When the computer boots I can see a clear picture (atom bios) and I get the sync green light on the jpac. As soo. As windows boots up the green light on the jpac turns off indicating out of sync. The jpac and the ArcadeVGA there is no sync issue. The jamma hardness I also connect my CPS2 multy( thank you Darksoft) so I know I have things good there. I think that the jpac is getting the correct power. This weekend I should have more time to figure the between the chair and keyboard problem:)

Sounds like the age old problem with Win 7 CRTEmudriver and the Nanao MS9. I had on my New Astro and think someone else had a similar issue with the picture going out of sync.
I ended up just using a backup old flat screen monitor booting from there and swapped connections once on the startup screen to get the sync back.
I'm not sure if there ever was a solved workaround for this from my recollection.

I'm using a MS9 no problems.. 2 of them actually i think

Curious, is this with the ATOM-15 flashed? That's the one thing I never got the chance to do for my card.
-
@Sledge - I see I undestand..
@planexcvs -- was doing it before.. I do not think that the ATOM-15 has anything to do with it.. I also have an extra card same model and the same...
I am curious to know if it has to do with Win7 64bit, Super resolution and MS9.. I would like to know if anyone is using WIn7 64bit, Super resolution and MS9 and all is working as it should.

I HAVE used super resolutions with the horizontal one previously, had no issues with that either!

Hmm, I shall try that next time I fool around with GroovyMAME.
