I have a 2-slot neo geo mvs. Running a 161-in-1 cart. I had printed 2 mini marquees. 1 instruction card and 1 game list.
The issue is that I am not really into video games, and have no idea what to choose. No one else I invite over does as well. I think I need to categorize the game list. Unfortunately, I don't think I can squeeze any more text into a mini marquee.
Would making a complete full size marquee ruin the "neo-geo-ness"? Any ideas?
Ps blue tape was present just to hold marquee while I was working on installing new locks.

I'm not a Neo Geo fanboy by ANY means, but I think it would ruin the Neo Geoness.

I like the arcade because I can play for 5 minutes, watch others play and bs, and then play again. I don't have the patience/attention for console games. So as far as knowing what type of game each game is, I am lost. The multicart just displays a random list of games.

it would definitely naff on the chuffness of that cab.
Sort the list? isnt it like 80 fighting games including KOF hacks and the metal slugs? I was always curious, can you disable games on the 161 in 1? Any fart, just move windjammers to the top of the list and you can thank me later.

Pick up a cheap tablet or digital video picture frame and put together a game guide that has the game list broken down into categories and details and perhaps a gameplay video on all of the games in each category and have it nearby so guests can read up on each game while others are playing - figure for the $20 -$40 it would be a nice resource for those that are not familiar with the game to see what they might like to try.
Might even build a mount on the marquee with an easy remove setup so the tablet could be stored directly on the marquee when not in use that can be placed on the current game selection so it shows the mini marquee and instruction card for the game being played - or easily removed by a guest to read through the gamelist. (that would give you a place to store it when not in use)

You could just get a four slot and throw in a Metal Slug, one of the Last Blades, Sengoku 3, and Windjammers and you know call it good... ;D
But seriously as long as you're not making any permanent alterations there's not harm done. What about using the Bezel for your games list?

Yeah, bezel for a game list sounds better than a new marquee or a digital frame...

I decided to try spanning the list over two mini marquees. Let me know what you guys think.

No. :( cart isn't perfect, but it's really easy and just works. I was going to run mame, but decided against it. Hopefully this category list will make up for the awful menu.

guess you can have a 2 slot in there and run WindJammers on the 2nd slot lol. I like the look of the mini marquees, only minor suggestion would be to color code them perhaps? Like red for sports, blue for puzzles, etc

If that doesn't work out, I'd use the area above and below the monitor.
