Hey guys,
I have just successfully set up my Aimtrack guns to work in MAME, and they work really really well during in game play. I initially set them up through the Aimtrack utility then game by game through MAME input settings. (Tab button).
The problem is sometimes when I turn off the machine Player 2 becomes player 1! Anyone heard of this before or have any ideas how this would happen?

It's a common problem. This thread might help:

Hey Darth, I never unplug anything on my setup but I do use a wireless keyboard mouse combo. I leave the wireless receiver plugged into the usb port all the time but the mouse and keyboard both have on\off switches which i always turn off/on at random times.
Could that be the issue causing USB device reassignment? Would Windows read the on/off switches on my mouse and keyboard the same way as if I were to unplug a usb device?
Thanks for your help

That definitely sounds like the culprit.

I leave everything plugged in, but Windows 10 randomly swaps my 2 PS360+ encoders. When it happens, I just unplug player two, reboot, then once everything is running the way its supposed too, plug #2 back in.
Sucks, but that's life.
If RetroArch and MAME adopted the (newer) trend of "whatever controller presses the start button first = player 1" thing that Windows games have all been doing lately, it would make life really simple.
