Hi i would like to base my MAME cabinet on the streetfighter2 cabinets.
Can anybody help me out with cabinet dimensions and button layout?
I was also wondering if anyone knows where you can get the joysticks they used iin these cabinets (or something similar, with the ball top).
Thanks.

I'm not sure what you mean by a Street Fighter cab; I think they were all kits (I may be wrong). I have seen Street Fighter conversions in nearly every cab under the sun. Maybe you would like to use Lusid's design, or buy an old cabinet.
A six and eight button CP layout is available on the main part of this site...

Great resource, and a great place to get started. Good luck on your new project!

I have the Capcom button layout available on my site in PDF and photoshop format.
Here is the PDF one:

For a ball top joystick, check out the J-stick sold at Ultimarc:

The majority of Street Fighter machines were conversions. The only exceptions that I am aware of was the original Street Fighter (the very first one, Street Fighter I), which had a few dedicated cabs made, and Streetfighter 2 Championship edition, which was also available dedicated, although the kit was much more common. Also, I am thinking that the "dedicated" one was just a Dynamo cabinet anyway (like many other "dedicated" Capcom games).

yeah im really hoping at the jan 29th auction im going to i can get a street fighter cab cause it would be perfect for the conversion im doing. i want the 6 button 2 row layout for capcom fighters and if thats already done for me that would be one less thing to do =) although a marvel vs capcom or killer instinct would work too, theyre prolly more expensive but have cooler art.... anyway im rambling off topic

Theoretically, couldn't you get just about any Dynamo cabinet and basically replace the marquee and/or control panel? I remember playing so many SF games back in "the good ol' days" and always remember the big red Dynamo cabinets (aside from the many conversions).
Did Capcom have Dynamo make the cabs for them? Or did some third party company make the decision as to which games went into which cabs? The shape of those Dynamo cabs is pretty strange with the angled back, and the slide out board holding the CPS2 (at least on mine) and I never seem to find a lot of info on them. Just curious to see if anyone knows a little more about them... sorry for the inquisition. :)

I think Capcom just bought their cabinets from Dynamo, although I could be totally wrong. It could just be that LOTS of people ordered new SF II machines from their distributor, and it was the distributors that were putting the kits in the Dynamo cabinets.
The slide out control panel/boardset system is very handy though, I have a Dynamo caberet cabinet and it has that same feature.
