hi
I've made a 16mm thick wooden panel with my layout and I've read that the standard is about 24mm of the joystick showing through + the balltop. this way I only have 16.5mm(sanwa jlf with standard mounting plate). the wood is pretty strong but I'm still not sure whether I should cut it. does anybody here use a lower mounted joystick? what would you guys recommend I do?
thanks

Welcome aboard, Ocoro. ;D
1. Check out this part (http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=FAQ#Joysticks) of the FAQ for joystick mounting methods.
2. Make a test panel. (step 9 here (http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=FAQ#What_type_of_build_meets_my_needs.3F)) That's the only way to know for sure what you will like.

I've already drilled all the holes, I'm just curious if anybody has played with a lower joystick and if they'd recommend it. This is actually my first arcade stick and I'm not exactly sure what'd be right or comfortable for let's say 1-2 hours of usage at a time. I might just end up mounting it like this and if it's no good I'll put it higher
thanks

I don't know if I have enough quarters for 2 hours of use.
