Getting closer to my first cabs completion... Im using a over under coin door from a vendetta cab...
It has the wg/coin control coin reject buttons.... Im looking for blue or yellow ones but only see red ones available :badmood:
Anyone know of different colored ones available anywhere?
If no.... is there any alternatives to get them blue -ish or yellow-ish and still light up decent (paint, gel films, colored led)
Or is it possible to retrofit a happs or other coin reject button/bezel to still trigger the reject coin lever and send the quarters where they need to go?
thanks!

Twistedquarter.com has a nice variety.

Yeah I checked there, and a couple other places... only see red :(
Guess im out of luck ?

I'm sorry, do the happ reject buttons not fit WG?

The happs have the quarter slot offset to the side of the reject button in the bezel.
The coin control reject buttons have the coin slot right in the button
:banghead:
Tried to save money and use a coin door I already had. Now my front panel is already glued and screwed on and cut for this coin control door. :banghead:
I have no red at all in my artwork or other buttons.
I really need blue or yellow or it wont look right.
Im either going to have to try a really bright blue led in the button for a purple-ish blue color or figure a way to mount happ bezels/reject buttons and get them to work somehow with my door and mechs
:(
I dont think its possible though because the coin control button has a long plastic cylinder that depresses the coin reject lever of the mech.
Not sure if I would need different mechs too....and if so-dont know if they would even fit in my door.
-
Ugh. No way to save $ w this hobby lol. Good luck bud.
-
Easiest way would be to spray them black or chrome etc then put a sticker on.
No idea if these are the same dimensions etc (might not be tbh), but might get you closer to yellow with some led lighting.

Just keep them red and don't worry about it. Red reject buttons are kind of a universal arcade standard.

Not a bad find on those ambers! Will yellow leds i might have a yellow-orange.
Looks like the same button but no word of what they are in the description...
Is this a reputable company? Never heard of them.
Is there any drop in replacement led for coin reject buttons?
Or.... do I pretty much just need to pick up the leds and resistors and solder it up myself?
This is my first cab so im still learning.
-
Looks like different colors were made at some point
-
I guess it may be possible that different colors were made for the coin control boards but if so, they're impossible to find now.
I had a number of coin doors I've collected over the years and they were all coin control models.
I really wanted blue coin rejects Vertical Retrace's coin door.
I searched high and low and only found the blue ones for the Happ doors.
I ended up trading one of my coin control doors with the owner of a roller rink that I do repairs for.
He didn't care about red or amber coin rejects.

Www.pinball.center (http://Www.pinball.center) has these yellow ones.
It says they are williams buttons but look identical.
Ive emailed them to see if they know if they will fit.
-
Pinballcenter has replied back.... they are unsure if these will fit but curious to know too....they look identical so I went ahead and ordered a couple.
I will post results when they get here. Fingers crossed
-
Williams buttons are a different shape, at least the insert fronts are (that was my experience).
Damn, wish I would have seen this before you ordered. Maybe you'll get lucky and they fit.
-
I hope they can be modded to work if they are not a direct fit.
They look identical in the pics but we shall see in a week or two.
I may now need to order williams bezels but not sure if they would line up with my door.
-
My experience was based on needing the part that covers the "insert coin" insert on an original Williams button. The replacement part I ordered didn't fit (it was too wide).
I dunno, maybe Williams had gone to using Coin Controls buttons later in their process. The door I had was on my Moon Patrol and was definitely vintage. But if they later just started using Coin Controls parts, you might be in luck. It was a pain finding the part I needed, but I found it on KLOV eventually.
Good luck!
P.S. You ordered those from Germany? Hmmm...
-
So you have a moon patrol cab? I remember when I was a kid playing that at a movie theater. Was jealous when my buddy got it for atari lol.... that was a classic
Anyway... I wonder if williams eventually bought a coin control mold or had coin control start making them different colored buttons? Would explain the pic I found and posted here with the 4 different colors.
Most of the williams buttons ive looked at are way skinnier but this one looks identical to my cc button.
Yes... ordered from germany.... the default shipping option was 50 euros but chose german post (hope this wasnt just for domestic lol) and it was 10 euro.
Total was about $25 shipped

Yeah, Moon Patrol for the 2600 is a classic. That, Missile Command and Vanguard are probably my top 3 2600 games.

Hopefully that's the case, or maybe they used different buttons in Europe. Either way, hope it works out.
-
Yeah I think coin control was a european company so maybe they still have colored buttons sitting around there that are new old stock and this yellow one was just mis-labeled or something.
-
Stumbled upon this info about these buttons when researching williams buttons...
"This is used on all Wells Gardner and Coin Controls coin doors including Capcom, Data East, Sega and some Williams pinball doors such as Twilight Zone"
-

I know you might be sorted now, but just to answer your question...i've no experience with using the company i linked, just found them while searching. :)
A white led might have pushed it up to yellow, but would need to be a try and see.
Fingers crossed you've solved your problem though with the yellow ones. :)

Well, that's definitely hopeful...
-
Yep....
I need to start thinking about what led's to use on my reject buttons...
What do people use these days? Led diodes with resistor solder to the leg, automotive led's,drop in replacement led versions of the stock bulb for reject buttons?
I plan to power them from 12v rail of pc power supply.
Any suggestions or links for lighting these buttons are appreciated!
-
Check out NiftyLED.
-
Ive seen a couple youtube vids where they have yellow coin reject buttons but are using an rgb led that automatically cycles through the colors. Is something like the nifty led blinker or the fast color changer what I would need?
-
I ordered a couple yellow 12v dual 5050 yellow LED's and a couple color changers to try out and play with....
The lime coin reject buttons are in transit and will post result when they get here.
I kind of wish I would of ordered 4 reject buttons incase they do fit since I have another dual slot over under coin control door that I might use in the future and the shipping cost more than the buttons so should of just got 4....oh well.
-
I dunno, $25 for two reject buttons... I can get a FULL DOOR Kit from Bob Roberts for $20. But I know some times it's the vision that's important, cost be damned... good luck!
-
Yeah.... the buttons themselves were only $5.... its the shipping that got me.
If I would of order more it would of cut the per piece price down.... maybe I should of bought a bunch and resold them as it seems like this may be the only found source for coin control buttons in a different color (if they fit that is)
-
The package arrived and they do fit.... same eject rod and dimensions.
Only bad thing is.... theres no removeable front for putting in the "push to reject" inserts.
If anyone knows a source of these that will stick on the front ...please share.
-
Good that they fit. Hard to tell just how much space you have to play with but fitting a reversed sticker on the inside would add to the durability.
Guess you'd probably have to design your own and get them cut out though. :)
-
Got the coin control door stripped, repainted and the internals scrubbed down...lubed... and these reject buttons installed.
They fit and function great! Heres a short vid with rgb led blinker

Did you ever come up with a way to label the reject button? Just wondering
I managed to find Red, Yellow ,Green and Blue But it took a year and I had to buy another Cabinet just to get the Door, now I have an extra Cabinet (next project and another 4 slot door) so I just ordered 4 and will figure something out when they get here the Lime green is a unique color maybe theme the next cabinet in that color.
-
One more thing if any one is wondering the buttons from
http://www.arcadeadventures.com/slotted-coin-reject-button-amber/ (http://www.arcadeadventures.com/slotted-coin-reject-button-amber/)
arcade adventures will not fit, I ordered them and had to return them they are to tall for the bezels

I just had Lucian print some up for me when I ordered graphics. I just sent a note to have them printed on the same tranlucent vinyl used for the marquee. Worked out great. Im using pulsing rgb leds and they take on all colors great!
Where did you find blue? :o
-
I bought my first cabinet, and now my second from a vendor near me, he sells off the cabinets that don't work or are not worth fixing, last year when I bought the first one off of him and the four slot coin door I told him I was looking for rbyg return buttons and all he had were red at the time, I found one green one online and ordered 2 of the amber ones figuring i could get the color with RGB leds but had to send them back. this summer he called me, he had taken over another vendor and took in about 70 machines. One had a 4 slot coin door with all four colors so he called me. Just had to buy the whole cabinet off of him 100 bucks
-
One more thing, are the lime green's smooth, I was going to have a friend engrave them and then paint and wipe the surface so the engraving takes the paint and the rest is clear, but that will only work if the surface is smooth.
-
They are smooth, its a shame noone makes the different colored ones anymore.... sounds like they are rare as hell.
Do you know what cabs originally had the different colored ones?
That pic I posted earlier was the only hint or reference I could find to them actually ever even existing lol.
-
Here's mine installed, don't know what games would have them originally but I would guess 4 player games, or any game that had credit by coin slot, if I remember correctly gauntlet was like that and i'm sure others were also.

Man....that is nice! Rare find there!
I didnt know they made a 4 slot door. My vendetta cab uses two 2 slot over under doors.
I wonder when they stopped using those?
-
I have no idea but I have 2 now the second one will probably get the lime green if I use another 4 slot I can ask if he has any left, but will probably only be red buttons
