Title: Oddly specific question: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Post by: megamoze on August 27, 2015, 01:59:35 pm
I had this working and now it's not working.  It actually says it can't find the ROM, which I have.  I did upgrade to Mame 164, but 164 claims that the ROM works.  Any ideas?

Sometimes roms are renamed, reorganized or changed along with MAME.
Sometimes sound board or bios roms are taken out of the main rom and given their own separate rom if they were used in multiple games.
The new version of MAME is probably looking for something in a different place than it was located in previous versions.

What version of MAME did you update from?
The change would be mentioned in the "What's new?" file from between the old version and new.

You probably need to update your roms or download new ones.

Roms have different revisions, just like MAME does.
There usually aren't any massive changes, so the bulk of roms from older sets will work with new versions of MAME.
But individual games will stop working here and there.

IIRC as Badmouth mentioned according to one of the download sites
Quote
I > Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (set 1) ... Note: Neo Geo MAME games require that you have the Neo Geo bios ROM.

SO it might need the neogeo bios rom ie. neogeo.zip ( it probably used to be included in the zip package but has been separated into it's own zip file since several games use it) -- CHeck if you have the neogeo.zip package in your roms folder and if not download it and see if that helps.

but Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is not a Neo-Geo game.

I was wondering about that ??  :dunno seeing that it was an atari game so guess thye just have enough people trying to use the neogeo roms and running into problems they list that warning on all the downloads.

I'm not sure but I think it was from 134 to 164.  Pretty big jump.  Among the games I play, almost everything works except for that one game.  I did try downloading the newest roms but still not working.

I will try the neo geo fix and see if that does anything.

Does anyone have this working on 164 or 165?

Did you update your whole romset? I suggest either updating to a full new set or use clrmamepro to check your current set.

I bet you are missing one of the system roms and now this title wants it in there.

Have you checked/updated your "atarisy1.zip" file?

That seems to have done the trick!  Thanks!
