Hey guys. So im about to finish up my cp and wanted a little advice. Just from old builds i always have stuff sitting around. I currently have an ipac2 and an ultimate ipac. Heres my question. Assuming im not going to switch to led buttons, What would you do. The ipac2 has enough inputs for all my buttons and such, but i liked the fact that the ultimate has built in support for the utrak and the spinner. My question is, do people have problems when they have an ipac, a trackball, and a spinner all running through 3 different usbs? I dont want to have device id problems or anything. I dont want to use the ultimate if i can save it for a future build, but it also offers alot of luxury. So basically heres the scenario.. the ipac2 can handle my inputs, i just need to add the trackball and spinner. Would you just go with the ultimate since its at my disposal? Or would you use the ipac 2 and run the trackball and utrak through usb hookups? Pros and cons? I assume theres no cons to the ultimate minus using it for something i dont need. The cons could be having too many peripherals through usb and such if i use the ipac2
last minute thought.. I just noticed that the ipac2 actually has an input for a trackball or spinner. With that being said, should i just use my ipac2 with utrak and spinner usb style? The ipac2 is an older model as well if andy has released new versions.

of course one of the biggest things occured to me.... The time saved with the ultimate harness.. It can reach atleast half my inputs with no wire crimping or cutting... Hmmm....

Save the Ultimate for a project with LEDs..

I'm going to use the ipac2 but I need some
Help connecting the utrak to the ipac. I included some pictures. I removed the USB port end, and now have all the colors on a single black plug. That one plug leads up to 2 separate bundles of wires. The single black plug has one of the small open holes blocked off so it won't fit in either ipac. Do I remove the block or do I have to restructure the wires? Or do I need a harness of some sort.

due to my ipac2 being an older version anyway, just going to go with the ultimate i/o. I shall seek info on hooking up the utrak in another thread.

I would not waste the ultimate i/o just to have a plug for spinner/track. Just get the cheap spinner and trackballs with the USB adapters.

To save cost instead of the ultimate you could consider the mini-pac. Will do your buttons, trackball, and spinner all in one and includes wiring harness.

Thats a very old version of the U-Trak wiring. It would be necessary to do some re-wiring to connect this old version to the I-PAC boards.
