Title: 2 Player Control Panel Ergonomics
Post by: pcguysam on August 25, 2015, 02:58:37 pm
I am in the process of laying out my first CP and I am curious as to the button layout preference.  I am thinking an ergonomic feel with a slight curvature of the buttons would be best versus 2 parallel rows.

I found this cluster in my searches and I really like it.  I was thinking about moving the upper right "pinkie" button down to the bottom left and making it a primary thumb button so you would have a bottom row of 5 and a top row of 3, both bent in more of a hand shape.

Pitfalls?  Ideas?  Thanks in advance for all the great ideas.

Bottom row of 4 and top row of 3 is my vote.  (Neo Geo would be bottom row).

Have you made your "can't live without" games/emulators list yet? (step #2 here (http://newwiki.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?title=FAQ#What_type_of_build_meets_my_needs.3F))

Odds are you won't need 8 buttons when you get to step #4.   ;D

Making a cardboard/hardboard test panel with actual arcade buttons is the best way to find what works for you ergonomically.
