Anyone know if the intec PS1 5" LCD screen could be hackable to adapt to a mini cab or something? For $30, it is a STEAL.

Link? I couldn't find it....

Anyone know if these are standard composite?
Can we plug these in to a computer any way? Or a VCR?
I'm thinking this hacked to a VIA motherboard... And I will finally have my mame machine in the car... for driving... Just to piss my wife off (for some reason she thinks its a bad idea??? just at the red lights!

I was reading the reviews on amazon.com. Not too many good ones. Some say they hook them up to other consoles, so theres got to be a way.

I read some of them... but I couldn't find anything about this version of it. There is the new rounded version from sony... And those have AV jacks.
I might get one... I might see if they have them locally...
If anyone gets it... please see how it looks from a computer. I have a small screen and its ok at best.

These are most definatly NTSC only, and can not be used with anything but a composite signal. So yes it can be hacked to any console that outputs composite, but no can't be driven by a computer/vga or rgb signal.

I beg to differ, I have seen a hack to make the PS1 LCD monitor into a RGB monitor, It involves snipping a few wires. Someone was using them to make a portable supergun for jamma boards.
I'll try and dig up the link.

I haven't done it; but I'm guessing an S-Video to Composite Video cable like the ones that ship with nVidia cards would probably work.
I don't know how the picture quality would be, given the size of the screen and the picture degradation that you get going to Composite Video.

It could be driven by a computer with composite TV out... Or even SVIDEO out with a composite adapter...

A 5 inch LCD for $30 bucks......you know its going to suck-@ss ;)

I have the official sony 5" ps1 screen its very nice and even though it only takes a regular rca input and no RGB it still has a very nice clear picture. I was very much considering taking it and making a mini scaled down pacman cab with one of those direct to TV namco controllers with the 10 games on it.
I have seen some other PS1 screens and most are crap I had one myself that I got for 25 bucks and took it back the next day because it sucked so bad. The official sony one I got for 75 bucks and its really nice and impresive sound and audio wise.
