Title: Zero Delay Encoder - Noob question
Post by: flavad99 on August 22, 2015, 06:14:44 pm
I believe I lost the instructions to the encoder or didn't receive them.

It has always been my understanding that I would need to daisy chain a ground wire each of the buttons, however in the package I received, it looks like I got nothing but wires that split two ways at the connection point to the encoder.  Do I simply connect both of these wires to the Happ Button, which has three connecting points.  Is there basically just a ground wire between every button and the encoder?

Again, sorry for the noob question.

After doing a quick google search I was able to find This Picture (http://cdn.instructables.com/F70/65VN/HFPTI6LA/F7065VNHFPTI6LA.LARGE.jpg)

If those wires/connectors look the same then you should be able to connect the 2 ends to the button / joystick switch and then just plug it in.

Hope this helps.

First off, in regards to microswitches that have 3 contacts, it is important to pay attention.  One of the connections is ground, one contact is a normally open switch, the other contact is a normally closed switch.  After you wire it up if it seems like the button is stuck in a pressed state - switch the connection.

Secondly, yeah, you are correct.  Each switch just has it's own ground connection in that situation.
