OK, I'm still determined to build this cabinet despite the fact that I have no woodworking skills, tools or the ability to converse in Mandarin with my Chinese carpenter. :-\
here's another angle for me to a use. What If I was to use some cad package that was able to effective render the entire cabinet in 3D based on my suggested measurements?
I could use some of the measurements that exist today for the "School Desk" type cocktail cabinet and make minor adjustments to them, I would then need to verify that these adjustments are correct by having the software simulate the cabinet being put together. Even better woudl be if I adjusted the lenght of once side, the program would automatically adjust the others?
Anybody know if this is possible or if there is any software out there that they would recommend?
Thanks again.

No need to reinvent the wheel. Check this site for other's ideas. Most have plans in a downloadable, printable medium already....

Just build it...the planning stops when you pick up a saw. Seriously...if you're gonna build a cab you're gonna have to learn some woodworking. And thats something best learned by doing. Just my opinion. ;)

My mate did mine for me in Solid Works - it looked really cool :) A great package too, but not the kindof thing you could just pick up and use I wouldn't of thought :(
Definately worth making some scale drawings or models tho - with a bunch of figures and sketches you just don't know what it is going to look like. Even if all you can do is use a ruler + protractor to draw some 2d drawings - that would suffice :)
