Title: Curved Monitors
Post by: ianska on August 07, 2015, 09:59:01 pm
In the planning phase for building my first cab and I'm thinking of using one of the new curved IPS monitors. It will be a single control set up so I think viewing positions wont be a problem. Mostly I'll be playing newer fighting games/arcade games. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these curved monitors?

They're pretty gimmicky. The only real practical advantage to a concave screen is reduced reflections but most people use tinted plexi on their cabinets so that's not really an issue.  If you just like the look and looking to make a statement, I don't really see a problem using one in a cabinet. Just figure out a bezel before you start.

For the price of that, you could buy a brand new CRT that has real curves and have left over.

LG curved got little Bleed but it was expected.

First thing that i hate is the stand, It doesn't feel safe and solid (not screw whatever, just a simple and plain jengga)
Second thing compare to LG 34UM95,
- the panel on the bottom has a yellowish tint.
- White is not as white compare to 34UM95

What i like
The curve give an extra something, and change everything for a screen that wide.
Quality of the render fonts is better than the Curve Samsung S34e790c.
