Title: 1084S-P Amiga Monitor!
Post by: JesterDEV on January 04, 2004, 07:44:28 pm
Just wanted to say how much I love these things.  Right now I'm watching tv (the simpsons) on one, and playing my NES on another.  They have RCA jacks in the back which means that can be used as a tv (via vcr, dvd player etc) or you can hook up just about any console to one.  And it has built in speakers and volume control.  Havent tried my Atari 2600 on it yet, but it should just plug right in to the video jack...  Xbox looks good on it too.

Btw, would anyone happen to have or now of any repair info on these? Just in case one of mine blows out.. They're pretty old and I'd hate to loose one.  I checked google but did'nt find anything.

Just to let you know, that "RCA" looking connector on 2600's is NOT a video or audio plug.  It is a single plug that carries both Video and Mono Audio.  You have to get an adapter from radio shack.

I have a similar old style compsote monitor with built in speakers. I use it for my PS2. This is why I never throw away anything electronic.

I have, in the past, just routed the RCAs out from a VCR to mine and had a nice little TV.  Now it just sits in a closet, along with a lot of unused equipment.  One day it'll be used again for some project, I just know it. :)

Yeah I've still got my old C64 monitor (1705?) on a shelf....I used to use it for all those things, problem is...its unbelievably low-rez :)

Playstation on it? Ooooh no no no :)

C64?? Sure....TV? Eh, sure......nintendo...yesplease...but nothing else.

Actually, now that I think about it, its the oldest tv/monitor I own :)
I've had that thing since 83 and it still works 100%
