Title: Nintendo video invertor
Post by: Sarver Systems on July 31, 2015, 03:51:23 pm
I'm building another tester.

This one will need to include a way to test Nintendo boards (DK, DK Jr, Playchoice10, etc...) using a standard jamma harness and standard monitor connections (RGB).

Is there a standalone invertor that can take the video signal from the edge connector on these games and invert it to RGB out?

I don't need to test the monitors, just the game boards themselves.

i believe someone at one time mentioned randyfromm had a schematic on his website for a nintendo video inverter.

I have also heard some people have used 7404? 74LS04? inverters to do it as well?

The 7404 approach does work, but most reduces the color count to 16, which is "okay" for donkey kong, but may be a problem for other games.

I want to use it for testing boards, so I need it to show as clear of a picture as possible, just the same as the original monitor did.

Mike's Arcade makes a Nintendo->Jamma adapter:
