Title: RetroPie with 2x USB controllers and GPIO connections
Post by: camperman73 on July 31, 2015, 03:54:44 am
Hi

I am building a Sega Megadrive bartop.

It will be one player, joystick, 6 buttons.
Also, i want to add 2x USB controller for two player games.

I was thinking of plugging the USB controllers into the USB ports, then using the onboard GPIO for the joystick and buttons.
Is this easy to do?

Do i add joystick 1, 2 and 3?

Just wondering as the Joypad 1 will be the same controls as the joystick and buttons.

It depends on the Sega emulator. Can it be configured with the input you want? You'll have to give it a try. Prototype the whole system first. Then design the control panel and cab.  I know that the adv-mane emulator will do this. EmulationStation FE can with some config.

Great thanks for that. I will be using EmulationStation from retro Pie.
Weekend of mocking up i guess.
