Title: VGA to Component DIY?
Post by: djfender on July 28, 2015, 02:43:42 pm
I was wondering if there existed a circuit to convert VGA 640x480P @ 31khz (PC/Dreamcast Standard) to Component YPbPr (640x480i @ 15khz)

Or Two Circuits put together Like:
31khz > 15hkz (DownScaler)
RGB > YUV Circuit

I.E Take the bone standard 31khz video signal from a computer, preform some some magic voodoo, take it down to 15khz RGB, then some more mystic voodoo to turn a 15khz RGB signal into a 15khz YUV signal.

The RGB to YUV Circuit's pretty easy to wrap your head around...

If not, a cheapo HDMI2AV will work, but this won't work with dreamcast... http://www.amazon.com/Generic-Converter-Adapter-HDMI2AV-Support/dp/B00P12BOO8/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1438108915&sr=1-3&keywords=HDMI2AV (http://www.amazon.com/Generic-Converter-Adapter-HDMI2AV-Support/dp/B00P12BOO8/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1438108915&sr=1-3&keywords=HDMI2AV)

are you trying to go from DC to arcade?

Buy a VGA box and snip the #7 wire

As I recall it's on ePanorama or similar.  Note that it does not handle sync.  You'll need to output SoG or come up with a way to put sync on the Y output.
