I am gong to put a Pandora's Box game board into and old cabinet that I had a MAME machine and an X-Arcade stick in (built many years ago, PC was running Windows 98).
After looking through the game list it looks like I might be better of just going with 8-way sticks. I have another build that I using a 60 in 1 for those 4-way joystick type games.
Do you all thing it is worthwhile to go with switchable 4 to 8 way for this game board or just go 8 way and turn of the few games that work better with a 4-way?

I dont feel like that board is worth the investment of switchable joys.
Heck even if you were doing a pc with Mame I'd still recommend making a cab that does one thing well instead of many things with compromises.
Also make sure you check the pinouts on that board many of them are not fully compliant with the Jamma standard. So it may not be plug and play without some modification.

I wish this was a box each person had to "check" and acknowledge before joining BYOAC.

It sounds like most are pointing me in the direction I was thinking of and that is 8 way for this project. I am getting most of the classic 4-way games I care about in the 60 in 1 I am building anyway.
This is for an old Sega Buck Rogers cab that I got for free many years ago (gutted but still had the monitor). I put in a computer with MAME what seems like about 10 years ago. I figured I would try one of these XXX in 1 boards to see if I like it, and if not I can always go back to a MAME system.
