its called "edge banding" and it has adhesive.

I've seen guys cut the spine off with a razor and then use glue to hold it down. But that's pretty crappy looking and certainly doesn't last. Not to mention a big PITA. Might work OK if it was a short distance without curves. Even better in an area that doesn't see much wear.

What is the application? I'm curious why regular t-molding with a spine will not work?

My Offroad Thunder cab had edge banding and not t-molding, from the factory.  The application could be on anything you cant cut a slot into i guess.

They probably used the wrong glue. The glue I've seen used is super tacky. It reminds me of cross between rubber cement and book glue.

I've worked on a Japanese cocktail table that used edge banding on the table top.  It's actually a lot less stressful than fitting t-molding.  You just peel and stick and then trim with a quad-cutter if you need to.

T-molding gives out free samples to try.  I ordered a couple of different samples, including the adhesive one.  Should be an interesting test.
