In previous versions of MAMEwah, there were genre filters that allowed on to filter out the, for instance, mahjong or mature games for a custom list. In the new 0.963 version, I cant find these filters at all. I am hopint that they are still there, because it was a great feature.
Anyone know?

They should still be there, I used them last night. IIRC they are only available on custom lists, not on the main list. I could be wrong on that one though. I'm somewhat of a mamewah n00b myself.

Yep all the filters are still there. As slycrel said, make sure you have a custom list selected, otherwise the 'Generate Custom List using Filters' option will not appear in Game List Options.
Also make sure you have catver.ini in your MAME folder, or the category filters won't appear.

Minwah,
I have both of those covered. I have a custom list selected and also have the catver.ini in my mame folder. I get the generate custom list with filters menu to come up and everything is there, but NO option to select genre such as mature, mahjong, or other types of games I do not want listed. I know I used it in previous versions, but it is not in my "generate custom list with filters menu" right now. If the two options listed are covered, what next?
Thanks.

That's odd ???
Sounds dumb but if you are not using a standard layout, make sure that 'Category Filters' isn't at the bottom of the list of options - you may have to scroll down in order to see it - 'Category Filters' is always the last in the list...
-
Nope. I paged down and there is no category filters in my "generate custom list with filters menu" I have no reason why. I have 0.963 and the catver.ini in the mame folder. Every other option appears for filters except the category filter. Any other ideas??

If the 'Category Filters' section isn't present, it sounds like MW couldn't/didn't read catver.ini properly at the time the games list was refreshed. Try refreshing the main games list, if this doesn't work, open your catver.ini file in notepad and check that it looks OK...we'll get there in the end... :)

Minwah,
You're a genius. That was it. It is the second time that I have forgot to refresh the gamelist and it has caused problems. I have to make a mental note of it. Now all is well. Thanks for all the quick replies. When the question is asked in this forum frequently which is the best frontend, MAMEwah has to stand out due to your cooperation in helping everyone with questions. Thanks.

Great, glad you got it working :)
FYI, refreshing a (main) games list is the only time MAMEWAH actually reads info from a DAT file, Listinfo, CatVer, NMS etc. MAMEWAH will never read those files again unless the list is refreshed, so if something was missing/wrong at the time the list was last refreshed, it will be missing forever unless the problem is corrected, and list refreshed. Hope that makes sense ::)
