Hello everyone,
So, I recently purchased a Sega Hang On. It has some boot issues where it would boot to garbage. I pulled the boards and reseated the eproms and secured the ribbon cables. That worked for about an hour, well it did somewhat. Below are some pics of after I did this. However, after an hour or so it went back to just garbage on the screen. While it was up and running briefly, I was able to run a system test in which the roms all checked good. Does anyone have any idea what would cause this? I have not cleaned the legs on those eproms and I was thinking maybe the ribbon cables might need replacing, but beyond that I am stumped.
Thank you all for your help!
Brad

That should give some tip what exactly might be damaged.

Have you checked the power supply?

A couple places to look:
Make sure you have good 5volts at the board.
A good place to check is at the power pins of an ic.
Something as close as 4.8v could be low enough to cause issues.
Shoot for 5.1v
You may need to clean chip legs and you could possibly even have dirty or bad ic sockets.
