Title: Perfect monitor for cocktail table
Post by: Harry Potter on January 02, 2004, 05:05:11 am
Don't know if people were aware of this, but there is actually a monitor perfect for cocktail tables (14 inch) which accepts RGB and works perfectly with EVERY resolution the ArcadeVGA has to offer (Except 256x264, this mode doesn't work period and 1024x768 which works in pan mode only).
There is no need to adjust the screen size for different resolutions resolutions and it automatically adjusts the vertical refresh rate eliminating v-hold problems on older arcade monitors (like my old Mortal Kombat monitor).
At the moment I'm using it for setting up but it could easily find its way into a cabinet.

And best of all, the pc plugs directly into it without the need for a 5 volt amplifier.
This monitor is none other than the Commodore 1084s (or any other commodore monitor with linear RGB input). These can be picked up on e-bay for about AUS$40-80. My one is from 1989 and the picture is fantastic. Pity it's too small for my cab.

Yeah that's a great piece, the size almost ruins the great features it has... :'(

Well, i guess that perfection doesn't exists around the scene.  :-\

Kinda along the same topic, I have an old Amstrad CTM644 14" color monitor (used with Amstrad CPC's).  It doesn't eliminate v-hold probs (I can't get the sweet spot on mine, it's been sat in a loft for years).

Anyway, the screen is also very good, and has an RGB input (works straight away with the AVGA) and would be just perfect in a cocktail table too :)
