I picked one of these up at a local auction for $3 and want to know if it'll play the old laser disc games. I've been trying to search online for a week or so but thus far am uncertain.
Any help would be highly appreciated. ;D

Any laserdisc player will play the video. However you need the game's circuit board to play the game.

Ah ok I wasn't quite sure, thanks for clarifying.

Since when?
You can use Daphne, and hook up a LDP. ::)
As long as it is arcade supported (excluding exotics) you can play them.
If the unit has a RS232 out, you are in business, but I think the OP's LD is a consumer version.

RS232 out, I knew there was something needed to play the games.
Sadly this LDP doesn't have one.
Thanks for the in depth answer. :applaud:

Since you have that unit, might as well grab the user and service manuals from http://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/pioneer/cld-3070.shtml (http://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/pioneer/cld-3070.shtml)
The service manual is extremely detailed and goes into a lot of depth on the operation of the different IC and the unit itself as a whole.
This isn't to suggest you can hack in RS232 out. I'm just offering this since having a service manual for anything I own makes life a hell of a lot easier when trying to fix something I happen to like.

Yep, and you can also use Daphne to just not need the laserdisc player or laserdisc in the first place. I was assuming the original poster wasn't looking to emulate anything.
