I have a HP DC7700 with a 3.2 Celeron, 4 gb ram, and 2 tb hardrive, with Windows 7; I can put on Ubuntu. What would you recommend for a frontend for an older computer? Thanks

Mala runs nicely on most anything.
You can really modify it nicely.
I use it without issue on my 1.6GHz P4 without problems

RetroFE should work great on that computer.

Since MAME 162 many frontends refuse to build game list based on mame xml so right now I'll choose F.E.E.L. It uses XNA and NET 3.5 but still works fast and does not eat lots of memory. MAMEWAH would be also great one but only for pre MAME 162, it's the most lightest frontend I know.

I have using MALA 1.820 in a PIII with 256MB.
MALA is a good option.

Attract Mode is another excellent fe with regular updates.

I use and ADORE gameex. For me personally, it is incredibly easy to adjust anything using simple drop down menus, from multiple monitors, to emulator set ups. Ive been able to fully customize my themes, and just get what i want out of it. Also has fantastic support just like this forum. be sure to include that in your list of considerations.. For what its worth im not huge on pc specs so i dont know how it will run.

If you want style with ease and free checkout www.mgalaxy.com (http://www.mgalaxy.com)
Its still being updated and will have lots of new features soon apparently, I've tried the rest and found this is the best....
I have it working with mame 1.59 and all the other emulators

Right now will not work with MAME 162.

I was a huge proponent of MALA, but I've changing my mind to Attract-Mode. I love it, and the fact that it works cross-platform is great. I've got it on Windows, linux, and will be installing it on a RaspberryPi this week.

Anybody ever use PinballX for a simple mame frontend? it does support mame, I just haven't tried it.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, I really didn't know there was so many choices!
