Title: Return of the Cab Work: hardware update?
Post by: Chris2 on June 26, 2015, 04:30:41 pm
Hey all, I decided the other day that it was time to go back and finally finish my cab project from years ago. The one thing I decided to change was to make it a mobile pedestal setup which could plug into many different displays. That said, what are some good video card(s) to consider for connecting to composite/s-video/component/HDMI/VGA/DVI/DisplayPort? Most important would be composite, VGA, and HDMI, but the more the merrier I say. Current card I have in my mamebox is a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814145146 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814145146) which is obviously pretty out of date now.

I might be up for considering a whole new build if need be, so don't feel afraid to recommend some cards that may not work in my mobo (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138098 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138098)), and as always thanks for reading.

Composite and s-video are almost obsolete, at least in EU. Most of the modern cards have now 2 DVIs (one usually only digital and one with analog output) and HDMI. Some have also display port. Are you planning to use some opengl shaders ? If not and you are using it only for mame probably you don't need to replace it. I'll rather inwest in new board and processor.
