Title: i-Pac delay?
Post by: gprime on January 01, 2004, 12:07:55 am
Just got my i-Pac yesterday, hooked it up today. All the buttons work 100% except I noticed 1-player start doesn't work until you release the button (for every other button, it works when pressing it down). Not sure if you understand what I mean. Is this normal? No biggy; just curious.

Can't help you directly, as I don't have an I-Pac.  I do know that Andy Warne is very helpful when it comes to his products.  Shoot him an email and ask him.

Happy New Year!

I think its because it also acts as a shift button.  So when it is pressed down it waits to see if you are going to press anything else first then if you dont it just does what its supposed to do ala start player 1.  I bet you can turn it but I cant say for 100% sure.

Ah thanks! I was just thrown off because player-2 start didn't act the same.

I didn't realise that, I suppose you could reprogram 'shift' to a different key if it bothers you...

I would actually RECOMMEND that you reprogram it to avoid the possibility of someone hitting both player starts at the same time.

During that combination, the P-1 Start sends a "Shift" signal, and the P-2 Start sends an "Exit" command.

Yes, whichever key is the shift key, waits until being released before sending the code. This is because it needs to know whether any other key has been pressed in the meantime, ie whether you are using it as shift, or it's normal function.
You don't have to have a shift key at all if you don't want to, you can unassign it completely.
