Title: Megatouch Maxx CRC Error System Halted
Post by: taylor810dn on June 20, 2015, 12:04:52 am
This is my first post on the forum so my apologies if I am in the wrong place, but I saw a similar issue being discussed here so I thought I would give it a shot.  I just purchased a Megatouch Maxx, and it shows the "CRC Error System Halted" when it is turned on.  The previous owner indicated it was playing fine but he had not played it in months, then turned it on and got a battery error, replaced the CMOS battery and then after setting the time and date he got the CRC error.  I read the other post about taking the hard drive out and putting it in a computer, which I did, and after setting the time and date, it booted to a screen that showed a whole list of stuff, but no errors, so it seems the motherboard is OK then?  Is there any hope for rescuing this hard drive, or will I need to get a new one?   Thank you in advance for any help.

This is ridiculous that I had to reply to myself, but got nothing from this forum, not one single message, so I thought I would at least post something that might help someone else.  My machine is fixed, turned out it was a bad CPU and a bad hard drive.  The person who troubleshot and fixed the components (motherboard, I.O. board and hard drive) was Nisan Naveh in New Jersey.  He is an expert on megatouch repairs and reasonable prices.

sorry your post didn't get answered....  I believe your post may have just gotten lost in the main forum. (lots of junk gets posted there all day everyday) we have a dedicated merit/JVL touchscreen sub board that gets checked fairly often. (at least once a day by me personally)

If you have any other issues with your machine, feel free to post there.
