Title: Another stroll in the woods, another 'creature'
Post by: yamatetsu on June 16, 2015, 04:33:39 pm: I found another piece of wood that looks like a weird creature, this time it's vaguely resembling a fish. I have heeded Le Chucks advice on the last piece I did, this one I mounted on a smaller base made out of two boards which I sanded, glued together, sanded some more, and stained. It is mounted on steel rods, which really gives the impression that 'fishy' is floating.

I like the details on this one, especially the 'tail', which looks like the head of some sinister creature.

By building my cab, I have learned many new things which I can now put to good use. And since this is the only forum I'm active in, you get to see the results :)

That it is, but it was a ---smurfette--- to do. I seem somehow to be unable to drill a hole at a right angle, and of course I don't own a drill press. Drilling those holes into an uneven surface was even more fun, and the best part was to figure out where to put the holes in the base so that the piece sits centered. The rods are not as straight as I would have liked, but it turned out ok.

Ha ! I wish ! Sadly it takes several forays into the woods to get wood once, if I'm lucky.

This thing is about 40 cm long, so if it really was a piece of ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, I wouldn't want to meet the creature that produced it :D In fact, I probably would avoid the woods just to be safe.

Jokes aside, the pics make it look too dark because I had to make them in the shadow of a big tree. I tried taking pics in sunshine against a white background, but the thing shines so much in the light that the pics were no good.
