Has anyone done this yet? I'm having a hell of a time. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like the NUC recognized my SSD in BIOS as an IDE drive. Odd. Learn something new everyday.

Why? Why would you install XP on a NUC? :dizzy:

Other ideas John? And its only going to be used as gaming console for older games....And I had a copy of XP lying around...And I'm a dummy when it comes to Ubuntu...

You can download Windows 10 for free from Microsoft if you want. I REALLY don't see why you should install an obsolete OS on a kick-ass hardware as the NUC.

Welp since 10's requirement is 1 GHZ for processing speed and 2 GB of ram I think I'll pass. I have a NUC 3 and just running the OS would eat up all my processor speed. Leaving me nothing for my games.

Trust me on this: Windows 10 will run way smoother than XP on that hardware!

Seems only some NUC boards support XP - here's a list of supported Oses for the different boards. (it also has the driver downloads for the ones that do support it that you might try.)

Do you happen to have a win7 iso ?? (figure all isos can be adjusted to install any version of 7 by loading on a usb thumbdrive and removing the eicfg file from the iso ) - I have at least one old key that is not in use for Home Premium from an old Acer system that should be unused for long enough to be able to reactivate by phone if you want to try it. ( and it should also allow for the upgrade to win10 if you want to go that route) Let me know if you want to give it a try and I'll PM you the key.

This link is exactly where I looked to see what would be supported. 10 is not. If push comes to shove I may run out and get a copy of 7.

It might be supported anyway. Remember 10 hasn't been officially released yet.

I had a copy of trial copy of 7 before it came out and it ran fine. I would just hate to go through all the headache of installing 10 and then not have a legitimate copy of Windows. Plus it looks like they are still trying to use the basis of Windows 8. Which I am not a fan of. I even find it annoying on my Tablet. Truth be told if I could find a way to still run 2000 I would be happier than a pig in ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---.
-
I'm running Win10 right now and loving it. Far snappier than 8 and it doesn't shove the tablet nonsense down your throat. It's still there, but not front-and-center.
-
Yeah nobody that's actually used it has anything of consequence bad to say about win 10.
-
On a side note...Solid State Drives are fast as Hell. Well worth the $.

Why not try XP64? :laugh2:
It would be quicker if you got Windows 10 for that NUC, then use that XP license for the official Windows 10 upgrade.
Or you can use XP and enjoy the self abuse.
Your choice.

I thought the Windows 10 upgrade was for Windows 7/8 only?

It is, but there are exceptions for specific devices. You probably need to research it.
