Title: Cut corner CP, YAY!
Post by: Slippyblade on June 11, 2015, 09:51:19 pm
The Dynamo cut corner (Z-back and normal) is the cab design that sticks in my head the most.  I want one, badly, but can't find one; I guess I need to build one.  The catch being I don't see a way to make the CP out of wood, I realize that the real ones are metal.  I looked around on Ebay and refuse to spend as much money as they are going for on there.  I have aluminum and know how to work with metal so I'm just gonna make one.

Anybody have a template for the thing?

Before you go to extremes here let me suggest you do a second sweep of control panels on the eBay.  When I was doing my pac-man cab I first searched for "pac-man control panel" and the cheapest one was around 80 bucks plus shipping.  Then I just searched for "control panel" and visually inspected every panel on eBay.  Found a sky shark conversion panel for 20 bucks shipping included.  Long story short, horrible conversions are your friend.

Wisdom.

I'll dig around some more, though the idea of scratch building one doesn't bother me.

Let me know if you want dimensions.  Perhaps the hardest thing to fabricate will be that curved bend at the front.

The one from my Z-back is 25 1/2 inches wide, i will measure the rest when I am painting this weekend.

Do you have a metal brake?

(Note to self.... grind down those old bed frames and put "making a brake" on the chuff list)

You're my home boy, Slippy. Of course you can have it. At worst, it'll be a great template.

Yots is now my hero.

Now that that's out of the way, another question.  Anybody dl'd the PCB files for KADE lately from Github?  I'm trying to and the zip isn't opening.  Would somebody else try it and tell me if I'm just stupid please?

EDIT:  Right click and save as apparently doesn't work.  View raw is what I was supposed to do.  Oops - I was stupid.

You know, I spent years trying to get my hands on a cut corner Dynamo cabinet.  They were always $500 or smashed up in the landfill.

Figured they were either really expensive or had a very solid reputation amongst operators because they'd NEVER shake those damn things loose.

I've had three pass through my hands in the past two years. I sold the two HS-1s and kept the one HS-5 for myself. They're great cabs because they are so versatile.
