How difficult would it be to take out the monitor and replace with something not vertical?

Assuming that's a 19 inch monitor mounted vertically, not possible unless you're OK with a 15 inch monitor.

Thats a Midway cab, early 90s. Possibly total carnage or mortal kombat. looks like they vertically mounted the 25" monitor.
That cab will fit a 27" CRT horizontally with room to spare. If youre ballsy, like me, you can get a 36" in there vertically.

That's definitely at least a 25" monitor in there vertically so yeah you'll be able to mount a horizontal monitor of decent size

What would you think something like this would be worth?
-
in american dolalrs, about $100 tops if the cab is solid.

Anyone know if these Midway cabs dismantled easily/ at all? Wondering if it would be easier to take apart first to get it into my place and then reassemble, since it's pretty banged up to begin with.

the control panel is held in with 4 bolts, everything else is glued and screwed.

Interesting, I guess that's a no then? lol
In the pictures, the CP is already off so that's good. I was just thinking about the main body and how I can make it easier to lift/transport. Probably take out the monitor, and anything else that will come out easily. Worst case, I cut it in half to get through my apartment door :)
Can they be moved with a single person and a dolly? Or should I see about grabbing a friend to help?
Thanks for all the responses!

Taking out a large monitor is never easy. It's completely uncased and the yoke can be broken very easily. You want to transport it as is. It's a two man plus a dolly job.
-
pulling the monitor is easy enough, just 4 bolts. I've pulled monitors out by myself without much fan fair. Even with monitor pulled its still a 2 man job. If you try to cut the cab in half you mine as well just go ahead throw the cab away, it'll never be the same ask PBJ.
Those cabs have caster legs in the front and wheels at the back. They can be tipped back and moved easily enough, all the ones I ever got laid on their backs in a pick up truck. If you're taking it up stairs you NEED a dolly (or 2 really strong friends if the monitor is pulled). Never hurts to have too many people around to help carry it.

Find yourself a nice Ladybug. They are great for Mame'ing.
