Title: Video Problem
Post by: Heclegar on June 08, 2015, 11:08:06 am
Hello everybody! Something's not working with my setup but I can't quite figure what, so I decided to come all the way here (from Italy!) to ask for help!

I've installed GroovyMame and the CRT_Emudriver on Windows7 with a HD 4350. Then, after rebooting, I tried starting up ArcadeOSD to actually try and enable the right kind of signal for my crt screen. The thing is, no matter what resolution i try, no matter what tv I use, this happens:

Obviously, this is not the tv I'd like to use inside my cab, but the results don't change. As you can see on the left top corner, it looks like the tv is constantly changing between RGB and S-VIDEO mode. Could that be what's causing the image to flicker that way?

Also, I should mention that I had to specifically craft a VGA>SCART cable, using these images as a reference:

I really don't know what could I do to solve this.

Also, is using the vga output the right thing to do? I read somewhere that most people actually use the DVI output with a little adapter.

Thanks in advance for your time and sorry about my english!! D:

You don't have v-sync, that's why it's rolling. That scheme is wrong: it would only work if you configured your video card for composite sync.

Better try the one here (notice pins 13-14 and the 1K resistors):

Thank you so much, man!! (again!!)

I fixed the cable and now everything works like a charm.

Only problem is that now I'm dealing with a pretty serious overscan issue, especially on vertical resolutions. Is there any way to fix this?

Also, it's pretty hard to notice in the picture, but it looks like the image suffers from a little "ghost" effect on the right side of the screen. It's hardly noticeable while playing, but if it's easily solved, i'd like to try. Could it be the cable?

You have to go into the TV's service menu to adjust geometry and convergence.
