This thread has pissed me off : http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,145592.msg1513752.html#msg1513752 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,145592.msg1513752.html#msg1513752)
I dont feel that someone taking Martijn's Hall of Fame design (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,84649.0.html) and pasting different UDON art justifies trying to sell your "work" to others. Art should have been put up for all to use and enjoy.
I will be making hauntingly similar art, and putting it in this thread for download by all. THERE IS NO FEE FOR THIS. I do appreciate a thank you in the thread but even that is optional.
Control Panel will be 25x8 @ 300 DPI
Marquee will be 25x5 @300 DPI
These are subject to change if feedback suggested a different size will be better. Recreation will be done in Photoshop, using UDON's assets.
Please note this is less of a tutorial and more of a "how I made it". Opt2Not probably could have made the exact same thing in 4 steps and it look a million times better, dude is a ---smurfing--- ROCK STAR.

Simple pimple!
Make a box, and do an orange to yellow gradient
(http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=136713.0;attach=329786;image)
use the rectangle tool to make a box with no fill and a white stroke line. Duplicate the box to make the 16 select screen boxes. Use the Elipse tool to make the black circles at the top, again, no fill and a stroke.
Download the SSF ABUKET Regular font (google it) or use google image search to find the VS sprite.
Add a yellow stroke around the font, and add a gradient overlay. Use the same orange and yellow as the background. Adjust gradient to your liking
(http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=136713.0;attach=329790;image)
Next up is the "starburst layer" I cheated and google "starburst" and used the one from this page since it suited my needs.
http://designmonkeytutorials.blogspot.com/2014/05/how-to-do-starburst-effect-in-pixelmator.html (http://designmonkeytutorials.blogspot.com/2014/05/how-to-do-starburst-effect-in-pixelmator.html)
You can actually make one pretty easy in photoshop but meh I dont feel like it and you cant make me.
After pasting the starburt into its own layer, I set the fill to 6% This makes it "transparent" so you can see the yellow orange gradient in the background.
In addition to that , I click on the Layer menu, then Layer mask, then reveal all. After that you do a black and white gradient from the bottom to the top to make the starburst fade out.
To note, you want the "starburst layer" under the character select boxes and the VS layer, and the big character elipses.
Adding the map is super easy, google a world map, (preferably black and white). If the land mass is black and the oceans are white, just hit CTRL+I to invert the colors and BAM! you have the landmasses in white.
Paste and adjust the size of the layer to your liking. Note that the world map goes on top of the starburst layer but under the select boxes, VS, elipses.
set fill to 25% (or adjust to your liking)
Next up is just adding the street fighter logo, I got it from http://streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/File:SF_Logo.png (http://streetfighter.wikia.com/wiki/File:SF_Logo.png) for this.
Again, mind your layers! In this example, the SF logo goes ABOVE the character select boxes.
-
Now make the elipses a solid white color using the object properties (keep the black stroke!) and add the yellow to orange gradient to your liking.
Next step is adding the characters.
I used this website to get the portraits: http://www.sirlin.net/articles/sf (http://www.sirlin.net/articles/sf)
I started with the big portraits, and instead of limiting them to the circle, I let the heads pop out for a more stylized look
(http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=136713.0;attach=329800;image)
I also rounded the elipses a bit more, personal preference
Here is where I decided to adjust things to my liking more. Redid the character boxes more square, adjust the sizes of objects, etc Canvas is the same size, Im just a litle more zoomed out than before.
Starting adding the characters 1 at a time, TOTALLY RANDOMLY.
I created a group under the character grids and pasted them 1 layer at a time
(http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=136713.0;attach=329804;image)
finished RANDOMLY adding the characters:

So you can take what you've already done and get rid of everything except the color gradient and the starburst, resize to your marquee size. in my case 25x5
(http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=136713.0;attach=329810;image)
Add the old Street Fighter logo in the middle
(http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=136713.0;attach=329812;image)
Then in no particular order, add some big character select portraits:
Then just add the rest, mind your layers, keep the ones in the back under the layers towards the front. I added 3 more characters totally at random.

Thread. Of. The. Year.

I love this forum. 8)

Cool tutorial, bro.

Nicely done. I don't think I would have done this with less steps really. Perhaps I would play with the blending mode of the background sunburst, just so it doesn't look too washed out, but really other than that this looks like a solid method.
Thank you for doing this bro, that thread also pissed me off.

Thanks again for your tutorial. I was able to make my own sideart :-)

that's AWESOME!

Wondering how the side art turned out once printed ?
I want to make some SF themed artwork, but I'm nervous the images online will not translate well when increased in size (as to fit the side art).

There are some very high resolution pieces out there. Best advice I can give you is to make an 8x10 section of the side art @ 300 DPI and have your printer print it and see if you like the results.
-
Nice mate - great work.
I'm planning to share mine too - not SF solely - Bubble Bobble vs Street Fighter.
Taken me over 100 hrs, so hopefully someone will get benefit from it :)
Not done yet tho!
-
Good call on printing the 8x10, thank you.
I've actually downloading your images as I type this.
Thank you for sharing.

Nice tutorial and pwnage. :respect:
